Perfect strangers are those people you find yourself having a great time talking to, made that five-hour trip to LA feel like an hour and more often than not are people we stay in touch with.

How do you know when you’re in the presence of a perfect stranger?

  1. You’re attracted to them. You know there’s just something about them. This could be for any number of reasons, the more the better. It’s the networking version of love at first sight. It could be their smile, something they’re wearing catches your eye, the sound of their voice, their emotional state. I’m attracted to people who know how to get what they want and how to work a room.
  2. They remind you of someone you know or you’ve met before. There is an inexplicable familiarity. In Tibetan Buddhism there is a belief that we could be related to everyone we meet. Be kind to strangers, they could have been your mother in a previous life.
  3. You intuitively know it’s OK to talk to them. You’ll be safe. There are no warning signs going off in your head. Remember that “uh-oh” feeling that schools teach our children? It applies to us, too. Only talk to strangers you feel comfortable speaking with.
