As someone who travels regularly for business, I’m in a lot of airports. I like to take in the airport experience when I’m there, whether it’s walking to their baggage claim for the first time or waiting for my flight out.  Portland International Jetport in Portland, Maine is one of the more welcoming I’ve been in, earning it a spot on my top ten list.

A Warm Welcome

Maine has 228 miles of coastline and 65 historical lighthouses. Walking through the airport gives travelers a glimpse of the natural beauty Maine has to offer, from cliffs and beaches to lighthouses and fishing holes.

Courtesy Comforts

From courtesy phones and water filling stations to rocking chairs and play areas, the airport keeps travelers comfortable from arrival through departures. Travelers are seeking these conveniences and comforts as a part of their overall airport experience, and Portland delivers.

Lifestyle Showcase

Toms of Maine and Stonewall Kitchens call Maine home, and L.L. Bean’s flagship store in Freeport is open 24 hours, offering more than just shopping with courses, trips, tours, and family-friendly events.

Invitation to Stay

PWM offers a compelling argument for moving to the area for the jobs and the way of life. If you’re just passing through, it’s only an 11-minute drive from the airport to downtown Portland, and overnight parking is only $12. Add a day to your trip so that you can enjoy the beauty of the area, whether to walk along rocky beach cliffs exploring lighthouses or to do some local shopping.
