Isn’t that how it feels when we arrive in this month? Somehow, time has managed to slip through our fingers as it likes to do, and now, here we are near the end of the summer, seeing school supplies back on the shelves and knowing that they’ll soon be replaced with Halloween decorations. But the summer isn’t over yet, and that means August is a month where families pack in last-minute and post-camp vacations with their kids and recently-graduated seniors take one last road trip with friends before heading to college.

There are no national holidays in August, but Mental Floss has a list of “off-beat” holidays to celebrate in August that all seem fun.

I’ll be spending part of my August traveling to Honduras. What will you be doing to celebrate the end of summer?
